Hello,    My name is Michael McCarthy. I teach a course in data structures and algorithms for Carnegie Mellon’s Master of Information Sytems Program. I am looking for nice AV’s to use in class and I am looking for ways that I can contibute to this community. My course materials are located here: http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~mm6. Please let me know how I can help. I enjoy coding and teaching CS courses. Mike

Cheers! -AJ

Re: Introduce yourself!

I'm A.J. Alon, and I am a master's student at Virginia Tech. I am working with my thesis advisor, Dr. Shaffer, to pull this site together and put it online. I'm also just generally interested in AVs and how they can be used to help teach those really, really hard CS topics.

EDIT: As of today (15-Aug-2010) I am a week or so away from completing the requirements for my master's degree. I hope to remain very involved with this site and the community we are trying to build.

Re: Introduce yourself!
Hi, Affandy! I am not up to speed as I should be on tools for teaching debugging. Perhaps one of the program visualizers like JGrasp might help. I suggest that you start a thread about teaching debugging at the Educator’s Forum and see if folks can give you some answers about how they do it.

Re: Introduce yourself!
Hi Everyone My name is Besim Mustafa. I am a Senior Lecturer in Computing at Edge Hill University, near Liverpool, U.K. I have been developing simulators primarily for teaching computer architecture, operating systems and compiler technology at degree level. My research interest is in evaluating the educational effectiveness (or not) of my simulations and feeding back the results to enhancing the student experiences using the simulations. I have several papers published on the subject. I am hoping to share valuable experiences with others on this site. Besim

Re: Introduce yourself!
I am a retired lecturer form the University of Greenwich and lately an Associate Lecturer of the Open University of the UK.My interests these days centre around visualisations that help in student’s understanding. Algorithms are a very important part engineering education and as I have developed some I would like to share them but not before I have made sure that they some up to the standard of others on this site. I’ll be looking at some that are similar to my own. I’m also interested in the bibliography section which so wide that I don’t know whether I’ll be able to find what is close to my requirements.

Good day!!! I am Azubike Okpalaeze an Associate Professor at Huston Tillotson University in Austin Texas formerly at Dillard University New Orleans Louisiana. I am exploring on how to integrate AVs into my lesson plans, and, if possible investigate new AV-related techniques.
